Shades of Papa
You wake up as a night owl
and sleep like an early bird.
Although 4 is not a time to growl,
you’re ready in the kitchen undeterred.
I love my tiffin and breakfast that you cook
and the Sunday ice cream trips that we took.
You don’t need to teach me off the book,
as you cook up stories to feed me in fluke.
You’re the world’s best father: that’s cliche
But I can’t help because it’s true.
I love all shades of you
because after mumma and didi, I have to love you!
Hope
When dark clouds fill up your sky what brings in the light?
What comes peeping through your window in the shades of rainbow to glance away your dullest times?
Is it the sparkle of your teary eyes?
Or is it your heart dancing with delight?
They say this is hope that comes knocking on the door.
It is the dream of a caged bird to fly,
They say it’s hope what keeps it alive.
It is the dream of home that keeps the soldiers at bay,
They say it’s hope that helps them throughout the way.
It is the dream of a student to soar high,
It is the hope that keeps their hard work on rise.
People live on hope,
It is what motivates us,
energizes us,
inspires us,
Hope is life,
Hope is what keeps you and me alive.
